COLONEL HUTCHINSON

FLYING ATLANTIC FIRST

LOS ANGELES, .September 3,

Lieut-Colonel George If. Hutchinson, who two years ago attempted to fly the North' Atlantic, with his wife and several children, took off for New York today en route for London, via Newfoundland, where he said Ho would enter the MacHobertson air race.

The Ilutchinson "Flying Family" attempted to fly from New York to London via the Arctic route in 1932, but were forced down on the sea off Greenland by tho weight of ice and snow on tho machine. Colonel Hutchinson, whose rank is an honorary one, taxied his craft to the const and beached her after being two days at sea. The party, which included his two little girls, aged six and eight years respectively, was picked up by the British trawler Lord Talbot. Ho will fly a Cord Vultce in the air race.
