BRIDGE LEAGUE

(To the Editor.)

g;^—i Tv a .s surprised to read the letter of Mr. Otto Glen-Doepcl, who has always represented himself to be an ardent supporter of the British Bridge League, because his letter is not consistent with facts. But I do appreciate the fact that a public meeting is to be called, for it will afford me tho opportunity of fully outlining the objects and aims o£ tlto British Bridge League, and also enable mo to prove that a powerful 'American faction is endeavouring to obtain control of the game in New Zealand. After all, bridge —an offshoot of whist—is a British game, and I am qnito confident that Now Zealand bridge players will desiro to be associated with the British Bridge League, tlie advisory council of which lias been strengthened by the addition of the Earl of Uofslyn, Admiral Wir Sydney -Freemautlc, 0.0.8., M.A^.O. (chairman of the Wellington Club, London). —I am, etc.,

CYRIL AVONDALE, New Zealand representative, the British Bridge League. ■
