WELCOME AND FAREWELL

A very pleasant gathering took place at the Hotel St. George yesterday when the Australian Society tendered a luncheon welcome to Mr. R. H. Nesbitt, Australian Trade Commissioner, and also took the opportunity to say farowell to Mr. S. AY. M. Stilling, who is returning to Australia after having for some years rilled tho office of New Zealand representative of the Australian National Travel Association. While the party was semi-official, it was none 'the less a very happy one, and' cordiality to the newcomer and a kindly "speeding of the parting guest" wore the orders of the day. The guests met in the Palm Lounge first, and then adjourned to the dining-room where their tables were screened off, and charmingly and appropriately decorated with pink and yellow gum blos-
