PLANTING POTATOES
LOWER HUTT RELIEF
Tlie committee which controls the Mayor's relief fund at Lower Hutt.commenced today the planting of potatoes to provide supplies for 1935. It is expected that the same area will bo planted as last year —some twelve acres. Experience has shown the wisdom' of concentrating on potatoes, as in Lower Hutt most of the relief workers can supply themselves with other vegetables.
Last year tlio potato crop was not quite'so abundant as the previous year, and for some months past the committee lias had to make purchases. The committee aims to plant sufficient to provicle supplies to August, 1D35. It is found that Hutt-grown potatoes cannot be depended upon to keep after about August. '
