PAYNE SHIELD MATCH

DUNEDIN, September 1,
The Payne Shield match between the Christchurch Rugby champions, Albion, and the Dunedin champions, University, was played at Carisbrook Park today in cold weather with light showers. The game did not arouse much enthusiasm, and the' standard of play was not high on either side. Albion were quicker to profit by their opponents' mistakes, and won by 9 points to 5. For the winners R. Thompson scored two tries and Proctor one, and for University Uttley scored and Macfarland converted.
