PRINCE OF WALES CUP
WON BY EAST COAST MAORIS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) KOTORUA, September I. ' In the annual Prince of Wales Cup game, played here today, Tairawhiti (East Coast) wrested the trophy from the holders, Taihauauru (West Coast) by 16 points to 10, in a fast, open game, before a good attendance. The half-time score was S points to 6 in favour of East Coast, who dominated the game during this spell. West Coast showed more aggressiveness in the second half, but their backs lacked finish and combination, and could not
cross. The forward packs were fairly evenly mulched, although East Coast had an advantage in weight. A feature of the game was the long and accurate line-kicking of Nepia, the ex-All Black full-back, who captained Tairawhiti, but apart from this his game has lost a lot of its old brilliancy.
Kast Coast scored two converted and two unconverted tries, and West Const an uuconverted try, v penalty, and a Held goal.
