The resulta in the Mornington first round matches of the Siovwright Cup were as follows: —O. G. Hearne beat B. Nicolas, 4 and 3; D. Hartwell beat E. Day, 2 and 1; J. Hill beat F. Laycock, 3 and 2; K. T. McElligott beat C. E. Jacobi, 4 and 2; J. Hennessey beat M. Hennessey, 2 and 1; D. Morgan beat A. D. Clarke, 4 and 3; A. E. Watkins beat S. Ward, 3 and 2; E. Buckmau beat A. Creagh, 2 up. The best cards returned in the 18-holes bogey competition were:—L. Barton, 2 up; G. Estall, all square; O. G. Hearne, 1 down; A. Charles, 2 down; A. G. King, 2 down; L. Evans, 2 down; N. Sanford, 2 down.
The IS-hole3 stroke competition resulted in a tie between T. P. Davis, 78, 10—6S, and J. Elton, 88, 20—OS, the next cards being E. Day, SS, 17—71; G. Estall, 91, 17_74- C. Jacobi, 89, 15—74; B. Nicolas, 92, 18—74; and A. Thomson, 90, 16—74. Nest Sunday, A. J. Shaw and J. D. Mclntosh will give an exhibition match at 1.30 p.m. over the Mornington links. A collection will be taken for the P.G.A. Centenary Fund, which is being raised to send a team of New Zealand professionals to compete in the Melbourne Centenary tournaments.
