RUGBY COMPLAINTS
INSUFFICIENT PROGRAMMES
■.As was to be expected, there was a big attendance at the Auckland-Wel-lington Rugby . football" match at Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon. The . lack, of ", programmes had bneii a subject of complaint at Thursday's, match, and it was' thought that adequate provision would bo made to, meet ihe needs of patrons in. this respect on Saturday, llowiivciy for many, of the spectators the position, was 'made just ac unsatisfactory .through, tho/supply .of programmes again being far too small to meet, the demand. MAs one of a party," states one Complainant, "I arrived at Athletic Park*, nearly half, an hour before the start of the game, on Saturday, and, iinding that programme boys, plenty of wJiom are usually buzzing around on ordinary Saturdays, were conspicuous by their absence, a;search was prosecuted in the stand,, but again without, success. We were left to. find out who the players were as best we could. Some, of course, we know. Needless to sayyour feelings at this lack of attention to a necessary, detail in the arrangements for the, match, were 'anything but happy, and other voices were heard loud in protest at tho.fact that there were no programmes. The position might have been excusable had it arisen only in the.case of late arrivals, but to bo at the, ground nearly half an hour before the game started and find no programmes on sale is an experience which, to say the least, is] annoying. Evidently it was the same a couple of days previously, and, if this was so, then there is just; cause for strong complaint of the manner in which patrons are treated on big occasions when they are more particularly desirous of knowing who the men are on the field. Interest in the form of players from other parts is keener becauso of the choice of a team to go to England next season.? 5 .
