SOME PLEASANT PLANS
VICTORIA LEAGUE ASSISTS
The president of the Wellington Victoria League, Lady Buckleton; has had an extremely.busy time arranging matters for the entertainment of a number of English schoolgirls who are due, to arrive in Wellington by.the Rbtorua on or about September 20. Lady Buckleton has found friendly hospitality for the girls who are about "mne-teen-ish" in age, and who are in charge of two ladies as chaperons. The girls will be received at the Pioneer Club at a morning tea given by the 'Dominion," and there they will find and be introduced to their hostesses for the few days they will spend in Wellington The girls will be entertained at Government House, flt Marsden, and other schools, by Mrs. A. Warburton (a member of Victoria Committee), and by other Wellington ladies, at picnics and luncheons. . They will go by tram to Masterton, -where they will be specially entertained and taken to see some of the manufacturing places and other interesting establishments. They will then go to Woodville, Palmerston North, and Wanganui, where they will be enterItained by the local Victoria League. Then they will return to Wellington, and leavo the same day for Sydney, .where they will start their Australian A great deal of interest is attached to this visit, both as showing that the . airls of the nation as well as- the !boys are being given the same faeiU;ties to know something ot the empire to which they belong, and also as a matter of interest to the younger people, who will have an opportunity of pleaslan tly meeting fellow-nationals from far-off distances. ■■ It is likewise a great "thing for New Zealand t,o •have: such an introduction-to the. ; "Younger Set" which will constitute the "Older Set" some day, and be able, perhaps, to make another visit to this beautiittl land, or-to encourage ■ others .to■ do so.
