A public meeting was recently held in Petone to consider rendering assistance to a boy, Leslie Wallace, whose left eye was struck by a ball, and will have to be removed. Members of the Korokqro Association Football Club and the Petone Hockey Club interested themselves in the ease, with the result that it was deoided to open a fund. The meeting appointed the Mayor (Mr. D. McKeuzie) and Messrs. J. Kevr and T. Webster trustees, and.a committee, which' has fully investigated ithe matter, recommends the appeal to. ipublic consideration.
