On the concluding day of the cricket match, Australia v. Sussex, at Hove, the county team was faced with making 257 runs to avoid defeat by an innings. Although 131 runs were made for the loss of one wicket before lunch, tho task was too great. After lunch Sussex lost nine wickets for 90, runs, and Australia won by an innings and 3o runs.
