WELLINGTON RANGERS

The Wellington Eangers (Girl Guides Association) met on the occasion of tho preliminary contest f^r the Bledisloo Cup which took the form of a prepared speech on the subject "The Eelationship of World Guiding to World Peace." The judge was Mr. C. Troadwell, who, at tho conclusion of tho contest, gave some very helpful hints on oratory. The first placo wont to Miss Jean Eiddler, who, tho judge said, was a flno speaker and a worthy ropreaentativo of tho Wellington Division. He liked tho way sho presented her case; her vowel sounds wero good, sho was a fluent speaker, and her quotations wero very apt. Tho second placo went to Miss Jessica Scott, whose speech showed careful preparation. Her language pleased, and showed she was a consistent reader of good literature.

Following his -remarks, Miss Ward (tho Divisional Commissioner) proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Treadwell, which was carried by acclamation, and the proceedings were brought to a close by the serving of supper.
