CHOSTIAKOFF AND APOLLOS.
With a popular programme and such a popular artist as Senia Chostiakbff assisting, the Apollo Singers anticipate .a large audience for their concert next Tuesday in the Town Hall. Mr. Chostiakoff has ' proved one of the most popular artists "over the, air," in New Zealand, and his is now a household name. owing to, his many gramophone, recordings ami his appearance as leading tenor soloist with the famous Don Cossack Choir. He will simt two groups of Russian folk songs ■with vocal accompaniments arranged by JNIr. Paul Vinogradoff. Mr. Chostiakoff, with Miss Myra Sawyer, will:sing the famous . "Miserere", with .vocal accompaniments', the bell effect by Mr. Probcrt. Miss Avu Symbns (violin) and Mr. Paul, Vinogradoff will play. Miss Myra Sawyer is to .. sing two solos, and. 'the Apollo Singers themselves, are to -.contribute nine popular items. These - include the plantation melody. "Carry Me /Back to Old, Virginny," "Hymn to Apollo," and "Creation's Hymn," the 'stirring' "Song of .'the Bow." the Irish cradle: sprig. "0,; Men ,from- the Field," and a rollicking number, the "Gypsies' Laughing Trio." Popular prices are arranged for this popular concert. The box plans are at Begg's, where'generous terms on subscribers' concession tickets are also available to the public . .
