THE WEEK'S WRESTLING
DETTON AHEAD OF MEYER
The most important result among the wrestling matches conducted during tho past week was the defeat of Dr. Freddy Meyer by Dean Dotton at Auckland last Saturday night. By gaining tho only fall in eight rounds Detton became one up on tho Hebrew champion, tho pair having previously had a win each and a draw. Although Dotton is popular with tho Aucklauders, the bout apparently did not draw as good a house as was the caso in Wellington, but tho match was full of interest. On Tuosday night Dettou scored another win over Oki Shikina (at Napier), and, on tho following night, Shikina lost to Dan Koloff at Wanganui, tho bout ending in tho fourth round. Shikina found that cvon his active legs could do little against tho Bulgarian, as they wore too short to wrap effectively round the lattor's great girth.
The table of results now stands as follows;— "■■■.. A[. W. -, I,. D. ' Koloff ..', . ,V \ — _ / Meyer .. 132 15 ■■ 2 r> AValker . 12 . !) 1 -, 2 Dettou .. 24 1(5 : 3 5 Bey l:i S ■ -i 1 Mamos ..1G 7 5 4 - Shikina .' 20 , ' 8 ■ ' 1'> 3 Wong. ..20 v3 1(5 1
