LYALL BAY COURSE
Of tho two courses submitted to the harrier sub-committeo for tliO provincial championships, the Lyajl Bay course was adopted, though only on the. casting vote of the chairman. It' is evident that there is a very • divided opinion on what typo of country is best suited for such a race. However, the course decided upon will provide a real test, and those who are able to gain the first six places 6hould be ia good condition to compete on the Dunedin course, which1, at its best, is bound -o bo heavy going compared with local conditions. The Hutt course certainly had the advantage of a grandstand for spectators, but \he localisation of the event should outweigh, this advantage, as followers of harriers in Wellington will not have to travel to see the race.
