The report and balance-sheet were presented and adopted, and a very satisfactory condition, regarding progress and finance, was revealed. Mrs. Alex. Smith, who had expressod a wish to retire from tho chair, was prevailed upon to reconsider her decision, and was unanimously re-elected. In thanking the committoe and members for their loyal support and cooperation Mrs. Smith specially stressed tho valuable help''received from tho retiring secretary, Mrs. Stirling, and general regret was expressed that Mrs. Stirling had found it necessary to re. linquish the position. Mrs. Ernest Dawson, Dominion secretary, was warmly welcomed by th» members, to whom Bhe spoke of tho aims and objects of tho league. Hor remarks wero based on the present-day training of the young, which, she said, owing to the tremendous progress made •in the world during the past fifty years, was an entirely different problem frofa the one which faced tho parents of past generations. She urged the mothers to be positive and not negative mothers, and not to spend so much time among the pots and pans that they had not the leisure to give to the_ pressing problems concerning their children.
