SCIENTISTS RESIGN
Eight loading scientists connected with the ' International Institute "for Psychical Research —a body announced a few months ago to havo been formed to investigate psychic phenomena on strictly scientific lines—have now resigned, says the "Daily Mail." They are:—Professor Sir G. Elliot Smith, the- eminent anatomist and anthropologist, who was president; Professor Julian Huxley, one of the two vice-presidents; Sir Oliver Lodge; Professor "William Brown, the psychologist; Professor C. Lovatt Evans, the physiologist; Professor A. 1\ O. Pollard; Dr. D. P. Fraser-Hanis; and Sir Ernest Bcnnutt, Assistant PostmasterGeneral.
Tho exception is Professor E. "W. Macßridc, the other vice-president, but he told a "Daily Mail" reporter that ho was "sending in his resignation immediately."
Tho reasons for the various resignations have referred to different matters, but it is understood that general exception was taken to the nature of: a manifesto issued in connection with the institute
The names of these distinguished scientists leat movo than ordinary authority to tho now organisation.
