GOLD MINES STIR AGAIN
The now high prico of gold has stirred up tho gold-dredging industry in California. Tho dredging process is necessarily extremely expensive, and is adaptable only to large-scale operations, tho land being ploughed up over acres and acres. Tho largest gold dredge in tho world has already begun work. It will handle- 350,000 cubic yards of gravel a month, and enough land will be acquired to enable it to opcrato for twenty years. It is easy to imagine the havoc such a monster would create in fertile and beautiful valleys.
