SCBIPTUKE EXAMS

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

' The forty-second annual Scripture examination of the Wellington Sunday School Union was held on Jmic 30, when 705 scholars from 70 schools competed. The number of schools was the same as in 1933, but there were 65 fewer scholars. The percentage of uirtrks necessary to gain a prize is 80, and 154 scholars were successful in gaining this number or more. Second or third class certificates were won by 433 scholars, while 118 failed to gain the 40-per cent, of marks necessary for a pass. The examiners were Mrs. C. E. Wood, M.A., Mrs. W. A. Patterson, M.A., Mi's. N. F. Callam, and Mr. 11. IX Grocott A teachers' examination was held on June 2(5, when six candidates eat. The examiner was the llev. H. W. Newell, M.A. In this examination Mies Mavis E. Rowley, of Taranaki Street Methodist School, gained 75 per cent, of marks and will receive a teachers' diploma. District committees are at work arvang.ug for rallies for the presentation of awards. It is expected that ten or more of these will be held.
