DR. SCHACHT'S TASK
ECONOMIC MINISTER
HITLER HATES, UNPLEASANT TRUTHS
LONDON, August 9.
The "Daily Telegraph's" Berlin correspondent says that the official figures show that between tho autumn of 1029 and June, 1934, exports docreased in value by 75 per cent, and in volumo by 60 per cent. Dr. Sehaeht's new task as Economic Minister is not mado lighter by tho fact that" Herr Hitler dislikes hearing tho truth when it is unpleasant. It is reported that Herr Kcssler, leader of tho Economic Association, %yas dismissed because he gave Herr Hitler a true report of Germany's ecpnomic plight. ■
Dr. Schaeht, an adroit politician, is unlikely to make Herr Kesslcr's mistake, but it will bo a miraclo if he steers the country through its difficulties. . ;
