Winds will bo light to moderate in force and variiiblo in direction, with southerlies, predominating at first. Milder day teinpcralures may bo expected, but the nights will bo cold. An nuticycltfnc of 'moderate intensity now covers the Tasman Sea and tho Now Zealand area, hence since last night tho southerly winds have become much lighter generally and the weather has become more pleasant. Some scattered showers fell yesterday in eastern districts from Cook .Strait northward, but elsewhere tho weather, although very cold, was mainly fine. There were many hard frosts last night, especially in tho South Island.

Dunodin had fine and sunny weather with a light north-ciisterly wind. Tho night was frosty, and tho weather this morning calm and dull.
