Wellington Girls' College. Parents and friends.of the Wellington' Girls' College are reminded of the drill and dance display, which, under , the title of the "Land of Bhythm," will > take place in the Town Hall next Wed-1 nesday evening. Past entertainments of this nature have always attracted a large and appreciative audience, and on this occasion a specially original and attractive programme is being presented. ■ " . Upper Hutt B.S.A. The president of the Upper [ Hntt branch of the Beturned Soldiers' Association (Mr. W. C. Wooffidin) entertained the ladies who are organising the "Diggers' Fair" to afternoon tea on Wednesday last in the new elubrootns. After delivering a brief address, the president called on the secretary to give a resume of the activities of the branch, and appealed to all present to assist as much as possible in making the fair a success. The chairwoman of the ladies' committee (Mrs. F. P. Kelly) said that each one should try to make the fair the largest of its kind ever held in the' Hutt. Among those present were Mesdames Kelly, Chorley, . Ashford, Marsden, Smyrke, Orr, Milne, and Guttridge, also Messrs. A. E. Robinson, J. G. Humphreys, and B. Ashford (secretary). Missionary Auxiliary. The annual meeting of the Island Bay branch of the Baptist Women's Missionary Union was held on Tuesday aftornoon, Mrs. Milner presiding over a good attendance. Officers for tho year were appointed as follows:—President, Mrs. Silcoek; vice-president, Mrs. Milner; secretary, Mrs. Pennington;.treasurer, Mrs. Edridge; envelope steward, Mrs. Bussell; organists, Mesdames Hogben and Edridge. During the year £15 was handed to the Missionary Society. Bepresentatives were appointed to act on committees in connection with the assembly of the Baptist Union in Wei lington in October. A social half-hour and afternoon tea followed the business session.: . . A "Pink" Tea Party. . A very pleasant "pink" tea party given by Mrs. W. H. Smith, 22 Ellice Avenue, to Miss Mavis Windsor, who is to be married shortly, was held on Wednesday afternoon. A number of pink articles was brought for the future bride's home. Mrs. D. Taylor sang, Miss Mavis Windsor recited, and Miss M. Mieir was the pianist. The competitions were won by Miss M. Mieir and Mrs. Windsor. The guests included Mrs. M. Melntyre ('' Orewa,'' Auckland).
