The talk for the month was on the culture of ■ chrysanthemums. Mr. T Clark, of Orongorongo, and Mr. G. W. Cairns were the. speakers. Mr. Clark read a prepared paper and dealt with the culture from his personal observe tions. All the- phases of growth were dealt' with, and an : interesting address was brought to a close by his answering questions. Mr. Cairns dealt with the growing of the plants from an outdoor point of view, and a practical demonstration on the taking of cuttings and propagation. .The aspect: of the beds, planting, tying, and the'taking'of-'the buds word dealt with. The speaker gave the best varieties for outdoor growth as j follows: White, William Turner, Mrs. H. Wells; pink,'roseday, Galiipoli; yellow, T. S.: Lloyd, Harry McCraw, Mrs. R. C. Pulling; not otherwise enumerated, Hugh Mitchell, Stephen Brown, Edith Cavell, Sir ■William Bruuton.
