MR, G. E. LEIGHTON

His many friends throughout jNfcw Zoaland will i-egret to learn of the death of Mr. George E. Leighton, which occurred suddenly at his residence, 155 Wellington Terrace, last evening in his sixty-third year. ■ Born in Auckland and educated at the old Auckland Grammar School, the late Mr. Loighton, on leaving college, joined tho firm of Messrs. Collins Bros., of which firm he later became the manager. Ho resigned from this., position some 25 years ago, and became associated with the firm of Messrs. W. Wiggins, Ltd., of Wellington, of which he was ono of the directors at tho time of his death. |

Mr. Leighton was a foundation member of tho Wellington Savage Club, and was at one time well known in local bowling, centres as a; prominent member of the Wellington and Thorndon Bowling Clubs. Lately his interests have centred in country pursuits, at his weekend residence at the Plateau, where he had hoped shortly to retire. ■ .
