CHARGES OF THEFT
Charged with the theft- of 51 bottles and scrap-metal valued at 7s 6d, damaging a shed, tho property of the City Council, and tho theft of a fork and rake, valued at 16s, also the property of the City Council, John Patrick Mageo, a labourer, aged 38, was. convicted and ordered by Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistarte's Court today, to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months.
Detective-Sergeant Revell said that on July 25 the accused broke the locks off tho door of a Blied near a rubbish tip and stole bottles and scrap-metal. He admitted that he had set fire to the rubbish tip, and this was a more serions matter than one might think, as recently someone elso had committed a similar act and a City Council employee was seriously injured. The accused stole tho goods to supplement his income, said the Detective-Sergeant.
