ELLSWORTH EXPEDITION

■;jir. Lincoln Ellsworth's monoplane Polar Star, the same machine which was badly damaged last year on tho eyo of the' projected'flight across the Antarctic, returned by the Monterey today, and will be picked up by tho Wyatt Earp. . Mr. Ellsworth is due on September 10 from Honolulu. " ,
Mr. Bernt Balchen, tho pilot, who superintended the repairs, said that the machine now had floats in addition to wheels and skis, and so could bo used as a seaplane if necessary. Their object now was to fly from Deception Island to tho far end of Weddell Sea and theneo to Little America) a total distance of only 2650 miles, and they had fuel for 4200 miles.
"We hope for bettev luck this time," said Mr. Balchen.
