EXCHANGE AGREEMENT
LONDON, August 8. '■•' The "Daily Herald" announces that the Anglo-German exchange agreement is practically concluded. It says that the news will be a relief to thousands o£ homes, especially in Lancashire.
MONTORO ASHORE
COAST OF NEW GUINEA
SYDNEY, August 8. A radio niessago repofts that the island steamer' Mbntoro is ashore at Fortification Point, near Fiuschafen, New Guinea.
Passengers have been landed, and tl^c cargo' is being discharged. There is more than «ight feet of water in No. 1 hold. The vessel^ is bumping on the rocks, but in no immediate danger. An attempt will be made to tow her, off when tho cargo is unloaded. The passengers have gone to Salamoa, 80 miles distant.
