INSURED AND IN DEBT

PECULIAR SUICIDE

CORONER'S COMMENT

LONDON, August 8.

Insured for £50,000 and heavily, indebted, Major Charles Rowlandson was allowed until 3 p.uu on August 8 to pay overdue premiums.

On his way home he asked the taxidriver to remember the time, which was 2.58 p.m. Rowlandson thereupon shot himself in tho taxi.

The Coroner, returning a verdict of suicide, said that it was a cold-blooded method of defrauding the company. His only relative is a sister. Rowlandson's solicitor told tho "Daily Express" that the question whether tho sister would receive the £50,000 would doubtless bo settled in the courts.
