LONDON, August 8.
Tho "News-Chronicle" says that only five out of 47 candidates for tho Generalship of tho' Salvation Army stand a ehanco of (flection on August 28. They are Evangclino Booth, Henry Mapp, Catherine Booth, Charles Rich (commanding tho Army in Sweden), aud Samuel Hun-en (principal of tho Training College in London). The choice seems to lio between Evangelino Booth and Mr. Mapp, chief of staff of tho international headquarters. Mr. Mapp stands for the maintenance of the existing system of government, and Miss Booth is similarly unwilling to make changes, though not averse to see others make them.
