YACHTING DISPUTE
HOPE OF SETTLEMENT
A hopeful view of the prospects of a settlement being reached iv the split between the Auckland v Yachtins; Association and the rest of the Dominion was tiikcn by the committee of tho WellingProvincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association last evening. The honorary secretary (Mr. M. Mills) read a copy of a letter which had been sent to Auckland accompanying payment of Wellington's share o£ the cost of the 1932 Rona. plans nnd specifications prepared by the Auckland Association. The lottor stated that the Wellington Association now considered that Auckland had acted in good faith in the matter, aud that the ultimate difference of opinion between the respective technical advisers as to the correctness of the, redrawn plans was too small to have been the cause of upsetting the amicable relations between the various associations. It was the earnest wish of the Wellington Asset ciation that no time would bo lost in reaching a full settlement of the differences, and it was hoped that the Auckland Association would see its way once more to join with the south in the control of interprovincial yachting. The chairman (Captain W. J. Keane) suggested that the time was opportune for the New Zealand Yachting Council to carry the matter further. Mr. O. A. Moller said the feeling on the council all along had been that the four southern associations would immediately reciprocate if tho Auckland Association agreed to come into the council on the basis of equal representation, which was the-main difference between them. He- suggested, and it was agreed, that Auckland's reply to the'letter should be considered when it came to hand, before the council was approached.
