NORTH ISLAND TOURNEY
LAST NIGHT'S RESULTS
The largest badminton tournament ever held in Wellington—the North Island championships—commenced at the Winter Show buildings last evening. Five courts wore kept continuously in commission and a fair number of matches were completed. There are nearly 400 entries for tho tourney, which will bo continued this evening and on Friday. and . Saturday C grado events will bo played tonight as well as further matches in other grades. Last night's games were confined to tho championship B grade sections, some play of high quality being witnessed. An unexpected result was the defeat of Miss D. King, a former Wellington champion, by Miss M. Whytc. Th» match went to three sets. The results of matches played lr*>t evening aro as follows:— CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES. Men's Singles. First, round: J.
