RETRIAL COMMENCED
CHARGE AGAINST SOLICITOR
Tho jury having disagreed during the first trial last week, the retrial commenced this morning of William Perry Hollings, a former solicitor, on a chargo of theft of £650.
It is alleged that, Hollings received £650 from Samuel Wilson, motor engineer, on. July 7, 1930, for the purpose of investment on first mortgage of a house property. Tho mortgage was signed and stamped, but was never registered. A payment of £200 was made to Wilson on June 1, 1931.
The Crown, for whom Mr. C. EvansScott js appearing, alleges that Hol.Jings committed theft in that, in violation of good faith, he fraudulently diverted the money to other purposes. Hollings pleaded not guilty. Mr. R. Hardie Boys is defending him. . His Honour Mr. Justice Ostler is presiding.
