STOPPAGE AT AUCKLAND
SIX BOATS HELD UP
MEETINGS. OF SEAMEN
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. AVithout giving any reason the crews of the three Union Steam Ship Company steamers at Auckland refused last night to take their vessols td sea, and today three Northern Company coastal vessels are also held up. It is understood that the men's action is a protest against the imprisonment of the men at Greymouth. The vessel^ so far involved are the Hauraki, Waipiata, Waimea, Motu, Hauiti, and Omana. The Waimea has a cargo for Gisborno and Napier. The Hauraki has cargo from Pacific ports for Wellington, Lyttclton, and Dunodin. Her crow signed, off jestorday,
their articles having expired, but with tho exception of one or two men duo for holidays, all signed on again.
The Waipiata was to have sailed for Portland to load cement.
Other vessels scheduled to sail today are tRc Kawau, for the Great Barrier, and Port Whangarei, for Wellington.
A meeting of seamen of all the ships in port on New Zealand articles was held today, but no announcement was made as to the decision reached. The ships are still held up.
The seamen are to hold a further meeting at 3 o'clock. The crew of the Northern Steam Ship Company's Kawau will attend.
