A Pleasant Function,

Miss Janet Stirling gave a very pleasant party at the Thespian Studio recently. A programme of modern and old-timo dances was interspersed with musical items by Misses J. Briggs, N. Coster, W. Trieker, A. Lainbourne, B. Brice, and Messrs. H. Seaton and M. Liddle. Mr. V. Lloyd and Mr. V. Kvails contributed amusing monologues. The Monto Carlo was won by Miss Kilby and Mr. A. Hutchison, and Miss Lambourne and Messrs. H. Paul and Evans were winners of v clever competiti.on. Among those present were Mcsdamcs V. Evans, K. Brownlec, G. Deans, G. Ashbridge, F. Haekworth, and F. Nicholson; Misses Edna Purdie, M. Murray, M. I ochorc, V. Collins, M. Kilby, G. Bilby, M. Bobbins, F. Evans, O. Dray, B. Maplesden, T. Connole, and Messrs. D. Priestley, Ralph Hogg, V. Wiggs, G. Ashbridge, K. Brownloe, Eric Young, O. Lochoro, G. Bayward, A. Hutchison, L. Sutclift'c, S. Conlon, F. Nicholson, J. Sullivan. A Farewell Party. A pleasant function took place ' at the D.I.C. tearooms yesterday, when Brooklyn ladies entertained Mrs. G. Miller at morning tea, prior to her leaving Wellington to take up residence in Botorua. Mrs. Baudinet, in a happy speech, presented the guest of honour with a posy, and on behalf of those present wished Mrs. Miller and family every success and happiness in their new home. Mrs. Miller, she said, had proved a friend to many in sickness and adversity, and the good wishes of the Brooklyn community wont out to her for the future. Correspondence. A correspondent asks for directions for removing the . coloured printing from flour bags, in ordpr to use them for other purposes. A large number of correspondents have been kind enough to send in copies of Kipling's "Absent-Minded Beggar," and are cordially thanked for the trouble they havo taken. Maybelle Dance. The Maybolle dance is to take place tonight in St. Francis Hall. Everything points to a successful evening, and a large crowd is anticipated. An excellent orchestra will-be in attendance and a dainty home-made supper will bo provided. '
