KELBURN CROQUET CLUB

HANDSOME PRESENTATION

A particularly cordial and pleasant party took place at the club rooms in tho T. and G. Building yestorday afternoon, when a presentation was made to Mrs. J. 11. O'JDonnell, the popular seerotary of tho Kolburn Croquet Club, who is resigning the position after holding it for nine years.

The bright reception-room was.arranged with large bowls of spring flowers, and was filled with croquet club members, all of whom were intent on honouring their secretary and assuring her of their appreciation of her work.

Mrs. McVilly, the president and patroness of the club, made the presentation, which consisted of a beauti-fully-npholstored chair, and rosewood occasional table to stand beside it.

With these was handed a letter (signed by all club members), which was as follows:—"We desire to place on record our high appreciation of the distinguished service you have rendered during the nine, years of secretaryship, and at the same time to ask you to accept the accompanying gifts as a. token of the esteem in which you are held by all members of the club.''

Mrs. O'Donnell, in thanking the club for the kind thoughts of her, and for their beautiful gifts, spoke of the generous help she ,had had from all, specially from the presidents and from the honorary treasurer, Mrs. J. A. Fuller. She had served under the following presidents: Mrs. McVilly, Mrs. Jolly, Mrs. Fuller, Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. W. Morrah. Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. Hamilton, and Mr. Caughley. She had belonged to the Thorndon Club first, and then when their ground was sold by the Bowling Club about fifteen of the members had joined Kelburn, and sho felt that all of them had proved to bo workers in one way or other. Mrs. O'Domiell said that she was .retiring from tho work withjjjreat regret, and she expressed her hearty good wishes for the future of tho .club.

\ Mrs. J. A. Fuller, who has been treasurer of the club for sixteen years, was also presented with a gift from llio members, and both ladies were given dainty posies of flowers as well. Mrs. Fuller, in thanking all for their gift, said she still intended to "carry on."
