Depressions have been passing both to the north and south of New Zealand, the northern one being 'centred this morning north of tho Bay of Plenty. Winds mainly between west and south prevailed yesterday, but since last night southerliea have again become general and moderate to. strong In force. Though flno in places, the weather has been cold and changeable, scattered showers falling in most districts. In the southern portion of the South Island conditions have been very unsettled since last evening, a considerable amount of snow falling and, in parts, hail. At 9 a.m. today Alexandra reported lSVjin of snow lying, and It was snowing at Nascby, Dunedln, and Nugget Point.
