CLUB GAMES
_ Results of club games played in Wellington on Saturday are as follows:— Senior A. Kia Ora 25, University la. Senior B. Brymay 15, Newtown Old Girls 13. Awatea 21, Melrose 8 (Mr. Howe). Third Grade. Island Bay 8, Kia Toa 5. Melrose 14, Gilbys 7 (Mr. Howe). HUTT VALLEY PRIMARY SCHOOLS. There were thirty-six teams competing in the Hutt Valley primary schools tournament whieh was concluded on the Wilford School courts last Friday. The matches were played in three grades, senior, junior, and midget (under 4ft lOin), and the referees were Mrs. Grainger (AV.B.A.), Miss Chennell, and Miss V. Burns (H.V.8.A.), assisted by teachers. The senior grade final was won by Hutt Convent, and Petone Central were the runners-up. This game was keenly contested, the passing being particularly good. In both teams the combination play showed careful coaching. The final score was 5-4. The Hutt Convent team was: N. Parker (captain), J. Parker, 11. Suckroo, M. Hall, B. Waybourne, N. Simon, K. Lane, M. Hourigan, B. Reeve. In the junior, grade Wilford defeated Hutt Central in the final by 8 goals to 7The winning team consisted of G. Neilsou (captain), G. Harmer. R. Kineer, B. Me-' Leod, M. Crane, B. Ward, S. Harmer, M. Holding, E. Behrent. Randwick defeated Eastbourne in the final of the midget grade by 9 goals to 3. The girls in the winning team were: R. Graham (captain), P. St. Clair, M. St. Clair, E. Jones, P. Fairclough, ■E. O'Connor, J. Barker, P. King, P. Williams. At the close of the tournament, Mr. Kennedy (president of the H.V.P.S.A.A.) addressed the players. After congratulating the winners, for whom the girls gave three hearty cheers. Mr. Kennedy said that cups and trophies were'not necessary to sport, it was the spirit of the game that mattered; the game was played for the game itself, for the team, and for the school.
