HATAITAI CLUB
. The year's working shows a credit balance of £30, which the committee considers very satisfactory, states the annual report of the Hataitai Bowling Club.
The number of full playing members is now 99. There are IS honorary, 2 country, and 2 life members. In view of the difficult times it is. very satisfactory to be able to maintain the full membeship, states the report. During the year 10 new members were elected.
Referring to finance, the report, states that it is pleasing to note that practically all subscriptions due by members have been paid.
. Owing to its unsatisfactory state at the close of the previous season, it was necessary to nurse the green to some extent in order to get it in good condition again. Scrim was used as a protective agency, and the green was in good order at the close of the season, the young grass sown in the spring having been retained. Thanks are due to the green superintendent (Mr. Bertram) and the greenkeeper (Mr. Tiekner) for their close supervision of the green throughout the year. The committee records with regret the resignation of Mr. J. G. McCrea as secretary' after four years' sterling work.' The club has had a successful season, winning the senior pennant competition (the'blue ribbon event of the centre), and also the champion of champions riuk competition (Messrs. Bennett, Moston, Cometh, and Dr. Shore, s.). In addition, a Uataitai rink won the returned soldiers' tournament, held during the year (Messrs. Larswell, Tickner, Chisholm, and Fletcher, s.). .
