SOUTH ISLAND OFFERS
STILL OPEN FOR CON-
SIDERATION

• CHRISTCHUECH, This Day The Government is still prepared to consider offers of land in the South Island for purchase and settlement under the small farms scheme. So far there have been few offers and the scheme has made little headway. In discussing the position this morning, the Minister of Lands (the Hon. E. A. Hansom) said that " there was very little undeveloped Crown land in the North Island, and most of that which had been secured for the scheme was land which required a good deal of work to bring it into cultivation.
