REDUCTION IN RATES

HAMILTON, This Day.

Restoration of the 10 per cent, cut in the wages and salaries of borough employees was decided on by the. Ham-, ilton Borough Council last evening.

The Mayor (Mr. J..R. Tow), in introducing the proposals, said that the past year had been one of remarkable success in the financial administration of the town, and in view of the general recovery of confidence and the" marked improvement in business conditions it had been decided to reduce the rates and restore the salary cuts, • and also to embark on additional permanent work expenditure,

AUCKLAND, May 30. The Auckland and Suburban^ Drainage Board resolved: "That the cut of 10 per cent, in salaries and wages imposed in 1931 shall be restored as from April 1, 1934, on £250 of salary or wages of each employee."
