(To the.Editor.)

Take in general use for building, plumbing.supplies, workmen's tools, machines for sewing,.. .wringers; ■ all these imported goods have increased over 40 per cent, in landed costs. As regards silks, cotton materials, electrical goods, rubber goods, toys, etc., if it had not been for the importation, of cheap Japanese goods, the prices would also have gone up 40 per cent., but the British manufacturers are not; now supplying these goods, consequently the money which should be.going to Britain to help consume our produce there has been diverted to her greatest ' com-pe.titqr.—-I am; etc., "■■'■:■■ ::7'r: ■-■/>.
