AUCKLAND, May D. Proposals for dealing with tho un employment pioblun weic adopted at a coufeience representing local bodies and social 'organisations. The fust pioposal was that, pending their reab'soiption into nidustiy, the unemployed should bo granted a 6us tcriauee payment on tho scalo laul dour, in the qiiginal Act of 1930 and throughout the whole peiiod of their imemploj ment. Other pioposals were that immedi ate steps should be taken to restoie tiado union conditions and that work of a coiibUiictive nature should' bc= earned out at standard rates of pay; that definite plans should be prepared for the full development of. the Dominion's natural lcsouVces; that? «all benefits dfcrivcil from macUmeiy should bo confcried on humanity as a wholej* that an economic Jand settlement policy should be Inaugurated on tho line3^ of village and group settlement; and that the Government should JLnquiio into the establishment of ncw N industries. The '" conference approved a suggestion to issue municipal credit notes to the amount of 2o per cent, of ■. the ordinary expenditure of municipal authorities, but the proposal was referred to a, committee ,£or elaboration.
