CONTRACT FOR PIPES

p ; ■■ DUNEBIN, May 9. The City Council at a 1 nieeting tonight accepted the tender of-.the-Hume Steel Company for"the supply and delivery of steel pipes and fittings^ required for a scheme for: augmenting the. city water supply. The tender price was £81,280 17s. A further sum, equal to 3 per cent., .is to be added to the schedule prices of the pipes' if manufactured from- steel made in, Britain. A proviso^in the acceptance is that the^pipes must be manufactured of such .steel.
A big run of rainbow trout is now moving up the Oroua River, probably for early spawning, wrote the president of the Feilding Acclimatisation Society to the Wellington Society last night.
