Accident in ■ lower hutt
Taking the view that the only explanation o$ the accident was that the drivoi of the motoi tiuek -which stiuck the plaintiff cut a confer, Mr. Justice I^eed, in the Supreme Couit yesteulay" afternoon, gave his' decision in favour of Arthur Hanison, Post and Telogiaph Department clerk, in his action for damages against William. Copping and Purvis- , Robert Sisson, market gardeneis, of'Lo^er Hutt. E[ariison suffered a compound fractuie ol the lower part 'of his light leg aud he claimed £86 4s special and £1000 general damages. He was awaided £62 10s special and £150 general damages, with witnesses' expenses and disbursements. 1 Th& accident happened'in Cambridge Terrace, "Woburn, on' May 2 last year, Harrison, being struck by a lony ciriven by Sisson as tho servant and agent of Copping. Each side blamed the other for the accident In giving his decision, Mr. Justieo Reed said that during the hearing of the. evidence ho had changed his mmd once or twiije. However, he thought that, on the whole, the plaintiff had proved his case. Probably the driver of the motor-ti uclc, seeing no tiaffie of any sort about, took a shoit cut and came, round the coiner in such a .way that the plaintiff wa.s only six to> eight feet from him, after he had turned.
