Temperance Union,
A meeting of the Island Bay young people's branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently, when Mr. Lan Milner presided over a very fair attendance. Mrs. Brown, the superintendent of the branch, gave an interesting talk on "Alarm Clocks." All members stood and repeated their pledge of total abstinence. ' , «, Bible Class Rally.
About seventy young men and women, representing , the Wellington, Levin, Otaki, Paraparaumu, and Paekakaiiki Methodist Bible classes' gathered in the Paekakariki Methodist Church for a. very inspiring rally. After a short opening service, conducted by. Miss Mavis Eolls, the afternoon was devoted to senior and junior discussion groups, led by Miss Smith (president of the Young Women's Bible Glass Union) and Mr. Pritchard respectively. During tea Sister., Elizabeth Common spoke of her missionary work in the Solomon Islands. ' Miss Dora Sheat,^ Y.W. travelling secretary,, was ajso « vor3ially welcomed. The - rally concluded with the evening service, cpndueted.by Mr. Cedric Gardiner, who spoko of the opportunities of youth today, and challenged those present to accept them. Plunket Dance. The- Wadestown Sub-committee cf the Plunket Society will hold a dance in - St. Francis ''Hall, Hill Street, tomorrow night. The original intention was that it should bo a holiday dance for the school girls and boys, but many others will also be there, and it promises to bo a most enjoyable affair.
