LIVESTOCK FOR AUSTRALIA

One of the largest collections of livestock to be taken out of Wellington for a number of years was carried by the Wanganella when she left for Sydney and Melbourne today. The ship was to have sailed at noon, but owing to the late arrival of two wagon loads of sheep she did not get away until 12.40 p.m.

In order to accommodate the shipment of animals about forty extra stalls had to : be constructed in tho. No. 2 hold. Some cattle of the Aberdeen Angus variety were placed on board yesterday afternoon and the remainder this morning. No little excitement was caused, both on the wharf and in the hold, in putting the cattle in their stalls. One bull, eight cows, eight heifers, and five calves will be unloaded at Sydney, while a bull, a cow, and three calves are for Melbourne. There are also on board six horses for Sydney and seven horses for Melbourne.
