Porteous (47), Buchanan (37), Hill (26), and Ward (22) did best with the bat for Christchurch, who made 184, to which Wellington replied with 71 and 92 fox- six wickets (Martin 39). Lapwortli (four for 49) and Martin three for 30) were the most successful Wellington bowlers.
