SHIPPING OFFICERS' MATCH
The annual cricket match between teams representing tho shipping officers of Christchurch and Wellington was played at Anderson Park on Saturday and resulted in a win for the visitors on the first innings. Cftristehurch therefore retained possession of Ihe Kitehing Memorial Cup. The local, batsmen fared badly against the visiting bowlers, of whom Hill was the principal. In Wellington's first in]iings Hill took six wickets for 20 runs. Porteous (47), Buchanan (37), Hill (26), and Ward (22) did best with the bat for Christchurch, who made 184, to which Wellington replied with 71 and 92 fox- six wickets (Martin 39). Lapwortli (four for 49) and Martin three for 30) were the most successful Wellington bowlers.
