CONSERVATIVE PARTY SPLIT

The Central Coiineil of tho National TJnioE of Conservative Organisations, in London yesterday decided that no further resolutions on the subject of a now Constitution for India should be considered by tho organisation until the joint select committee of Parliament had made its recommendations on the Government White Paper. A resolution to this effect was opposed by Mr. Winston Churchill, Lord Lloyd, and others who claimed that it was the right and tho duty of tho Conservative Party to discuss this problem at any meetings at which constituent bodies might desire- it. ! An amendment on these lines was defeated by 491 : votes to 314.
