CARRIAGE DERAILED
DRAGGED FOR HALF A MILE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) • GOEE, This Day. Four carriages of yesterday's southbound evening express did not reach Gore until the early hours this morning, owing to one carriage being derailed near McNab. The remaining six carriages proceeded to their destination, -but were over an hour late. The train had a .remarkable escape from, serious accident, as-the derailed carriage was carried for . over half a mile with the front bogie wheels off the rails. The train was travelling at about 40 miles aa hour. The prompt action of a passenger enabled the guard to apply the emergency brake. No damage was done to the train, and apart from the somewhat alarming experience to the. passengers in, the derailed carriage no one was injured.
