MANY PROTESTS
TOTALISATOR CLAUSES
(Received March' 29;, 1 p.m.) LONDON, March 28. The Betting Bill has produced many protests. Tho National Turf Protection Society regards the Bill as unnecessarily drastic, and doubts' the practicability of working mechanical or electric totalisators on a 3 per' cent, basis. The conditions of the Bill are" tantamount to the denial of the to-talisator to greyhound racing. • The Greyhound Eacing Society has circularised Commoners urging that the licensing control be placed in the hands of a National Board instead.-'of- local authorities. They contend that no greyhound racecourse can. be creditably conducted on the basis of two meetings weekly. Dog racing shares fell sharply in consequence of the Betting Bill. "
